Would anyone like to pass on some tips to me about painting my plaster of Paris train scenery? I would apprecate it.

Thanks to my wife who is into ceramics and plaster painting, she has turned me onto stains. You
can by them in any ceramic shop. They have all the earth tone colors. I did find however that if
you use the stain straight out of the jar that they are alittle to dark. I pour the stain in a
baby food jar and add water to thin them out. 2 parts water to 1 part stain. This also
eliminates the high cost of the paints that you buy from the hobby shops.

I'm assuming your plaster is sealed, like the castings you buy in the craft stores. I use acrylic paints from the tube & mix my own colors, it's a heckuva lot cheaper than buying the little bottles. I assume you're referring to the rocks & stonework, washes with various tones & shades of grays with other "stone" colors (browns, reds, yellows, blues, etc) can also be washed, sponged or drybrushed to give a realistic effect.
