Hi All:

Does anyone here have any experience using liquid polymer clay on
fabric? I have a new book on using Liquid Polymer Clay and a couple
of the projects use liquid polymer clay on fabric to make purses. I
find the idea fascinating and think it would work great to make
something like a checkbook cover or a cover for a PDA.

This is one of my "crafty" ideas for when I get to Oregon.

If you are going to make something that small out of fabric, why not try
iron on clear vinyl? It's a bit pricey buts works great and really stiffens up
the fabric. It is used to make stuff like placemats, rain gear, etc. CiaoMeow

Mardi, you can look around on Carol Duval's HGTV website. I haven't had a
craft attack in years but usually let her show keep me company in the
morning. It seems that they have mostly been using the liquid polymer clay
as a bonding agent but they may have done something on fabric. Polly

The reason why I'm interested in liquid polymer clay is because you
can "transfer" images to it. If you make a photocopy with a laser
(toner based) printer, you can then apply the liquid polymer clay to
the image and the image is then transferred to the polymer clay. The
possibilities are endless with all the black and white clipart
available out there. And you can also do this with a color copy or
color a black and white image with oil-based pencils then transfer.

There is a wealth of polymer clay information on www.glassattic.com and on
the Sculpey brand website. There is a delphi forum:

and a polymer clay usenet group *looks like a ghost town lately but you
could be the one to get things moving again* and a poly clay ezine with past
issues online that are full of fun projects.

got this response,

using the liquids on fabric is great! just test your fabric swatch first to
make sure it can withstand the 275 heat--most can, but I have melted some
acetates.....go by iron settings. If you melt it when you iron it, be careful!

You can also use Varathane to dip and harden fabrics without having to bake
afterward--Varathane airdries.
